Why See an Ophthalmologist for Botox?
Botox was actually first developed and used for ophthalmologists to treat eye spasms, and in fact, is still used today for that very purpose. For that reason, this makes ophthalmologists uniquely qualified to use Botox for cosmetic reasons. Since most cosmetic injections are close to the eye and have potential side effects, it is the ophthalmologist above all others that understand how Botox works, how to administer it, and how to avoid complications.
What Does Botox Treat?
Botox is one of the most popular ways to target fine lines and wrinkles, specifically frown lines, crow's feet, and forehead wrinkles. These fine lines and wrinkles develop over time as the result of facial muscle movement pulling on the skin. Botox counteracts that by relaxing these muscles which softens and smooths the fine lines and wrinkles.
How Long Does Botox last?
It takes approximately 1 week to see results. These results will last for about 3-4 months before the muscle movement gradually returns. Additional treatments will be required to maintain results.
What is Latisse?
Latisse is an FDA-approved prescription that lengthens, thickens, and darkens eyelashes. It is applied directly to the base of the upper eyelashes on a daily basis for 16 weeks. Results will be gradual with full results being seen at 16 weeks.
How Long Does Latisse last?
Once you discontinue using Latisse, your eyelashes will gradually return to how they looked prior to using it. To maintain the results of Latisse, you should continue with daily use.
What are Dermal Fillers?

- Juvéderm Voluma®- Uses hyaluronic acid to restore volume in the cheek area. Results are instant and last for about 2 years.

- Restylane®- Uses hyaluronic acid to smooth wrinkles and folds, including around the lips, and add volume to lips. Results are instant and may last a few months to a year.
- Sculptra®- Uses polylactic acid to stimulate collagen production to fill smile lines, marionette lines, and chin wrinkles as well as add volume to lips. Results gradually appear over a few months.

Intense Pulsed Light
What is Intense Pulsed Light?
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a safe and quick light treatment used for overall facial rejuvenation as well as to treat age spots, redness, broken blood vessels, sun damage, and rosacea. An IPL treatment uses a hand-held device that delivers pulses of light to heat the skin. There is minimal to no pain during the procedure but a mild heating sensation may be experienced. IPL also has the added benefit of treating moderate to severe dry eye.
How Long Does Intense Pulsed Light Last?
Results are typically seen in 4-6 treatments. Each treatment will be given 4-6 weeks apart. To maintain optimal results, we recommend you get maintenance treatments once or twice a year.
What is a Chemical Peel?
Chemical peels are a great option to improve the overall appearance of your skin. A chemical solution, which will vary depending on the type of chemical peel, is applied to the skin. This causes the skin to peel off and stimulate new skin to grow. This new skin is smoother and has less wrinkles. Chemical peels have many benefits including:
- Brightening skin
- Reducing sun damage
- Improving fine lines and wrinkles
Depending on the chemical peel being used, the amount of downtime will vary. Superficial peels, also known as lunchtime peels, restores the luster to your skin so that you can go back to the office afterwards. Medium depth peels and deep peels results in more peeling and will have more downtime.
