Sara Shkalim Shissias, OD
Dr. Sara Shkalim Shissias grew up in Brooklyn, New York and graduated from SUNY Binghamton University, with a Bachelor of Science in Cellular and Molecular Biology. After completing her degree, she entered the Pennsylvania College of Optometry and received her Doctor of Optometry degree in 2010.
After graduating from optometry school, Dr. Shissias completed a one-year residency specializing in Low Vision and Rehabilitation at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. Dr. Shissias's interest in low vision, as well as academic instruction, led her to not only provide care for low vision patients but also lecture about optical principles in ophthalmics at Salus University. Dr. Shissias became a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry in 2012 and spoke at both the 2012 and 2013 Academy meetings. Dr. Shissias currently maintains a role as an adjunct professor at Salus University.
Dr. Shissias enjoys a balance of both primary care and low vision; the most important factor of each being patient education and satisfaction. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, running, and traveling.
